ABOUT

Lewis Family

I started my Physiotherapy journey in 2006 after many years working as an outdoor activity instructor, personal trainer and massage therapist.  I initially became interested in becoming a Physiotherapist after fracturing my heel bone which required me to attend months of Physiotherapy and rehabilitation appointments.  I was fascinated by the knowledge and skills of the Physios and appreciated the whole professionalism of the rehabilitation process.

After graduating from Coventry University with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy I moved to North Devon with my family and worked across a broad range of clinical areas within the NHS.  I gained invaluable knowledge and skills in Orthopaedics, Acute Medicine, Surgical, Critical Care, Elderly Medicine and Acute Stroke Rehabilitation.  My main passion was for Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and therefore chose to specialise in this field.

Since moving to Matlock in 2012, I continued to work within the NHS as an Advanced Practitioner and also in Private practice where I treated a broad range of clients.  In 2017 I teamed up with Mike Blair at The Run Forest Run Shop and set up a small clinic specialising in Musculoskeletal care and running related injuries. I built up a very strong reputation within the community, GP surgeries and community running clubs.

It has been my dream to open my own Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Centre and be able to help the local community and further afield.  I enjoy unravelling the complex stories behind people's pain and injury and provide simple and easy to follow strategies to facilitate recovery and go on to help my clients build strong, injury-resistant bodies.

I am a keen mountain biker and non competitive runner and enjoy spending time outdoors walking in the beautiful Peak District with my wife Nicola of Mrs Lewis' Decorating Company and two sons Jake and Finn.
